Monthly Reports

Thank you everyone for an incredible first half of the year! Over this time, CB12M has accomplished a ton of important missions – we passed 29 non-Licensing-related resolutions, establishing important policy positions on housing, youth and education, traffic and transportation, public safety, aging, health, and other matters. We also held two town hall events, two Uptown Tours stops, and three public gatherings. Our newsroom featured 19 press releases highlighting this year's work so far.

During the summer, the team and I will turn our attention to other goals. These include conducting the long-awaited lookback exercise of our resolutions over the last two years. We will also dedicate resources to supporting the establishment of the Broadway BID. We are also focusing on the development of a "CB12M Playbook," identifying all the key actions that the Board must take each calendar year. In addition, we'll begin planning clinics for later this summer and early fall. Stay tuned!

In April, the Youth & Education Committee hosted the board's first public hearing of the year on charter schools in the district, on March 31. The board is planning two more town halls this year: a June session on the Inwood Points of Agreement housing initiatives, led by the Housing & Human Services Committee, and an upcoming town hall on residential parking, led by Traffic & Transportation.

The board also revived its "Uptown Tours" series, kicking off on April 24 with a visit to The Shabazz Center on 165th Street and Broadway. The series introduces members to the historic and cultural sites of Washington Heights and Inwood.
